2. Do you offer payment plans? Yes. To book the retreat, you will place down a deposit to lock in your space. You will have the option for the payment plan that works best for you.
4. How old do you have to be to attend Black Women Healing Retreats? Women of all ages attend our retreats. We do not have age restrictions.
5. Is this retreat for me? What's allowed at the retreat?
Black Women Healing Retreats is not for you if:
Partying is not allowed during the retreat, however guest are allowed to party on the last night.
Cigarettes are not allowed at the retreat. (herbs/plant medicine are allowed)
Alcohol is not allowed at the retreat. Alcohol is only allowed on the last night of the retreat.
If you are not good at responding to emails timely then this retreat is not for you. All guest are required to reply to emails within 48 hours. These regulations are in place to ensure you go deeper in your healing , femininity and self-love journey.

IMPORTANT: Note that Black Women Healing Retreats is NOT personal therapy or a detoxification program from recreational or pharmaceutical drugs. Most of our faculty members are not trained psychiatrist and do not carry clinical backgrounds in PTSD, addiction or other mental health concerns. If you have a history of PTSD, addiction or other mental health concerns, it is important that you arrive to our program in a stable state with the intention of using the retreat for self regulation, personal healing & spiritual growth. During the retreat, you will spend a lot of time in silence, in nature, in meditation, and so much more. You will go on fun adventures, experience educational workshops, eat nourishing food and you will be able to be completely open in this space of sisterhood. You will be invited to lean on these holistic healing tools to support your healing and internal process. If you are seeking personal or clinical therapy then this retreat is not for you. 5. Should I travel alone or with friends? 97% of our guest attend the retreat solo and they are able to meet new people at the retreat. 3% of our guest attend with friends/ family and they also are able to meet new people at the retreat.
6. Do I have to be plant based to attend this retreat? No, you do not need to be plant-based to attend this retreat. Sonora Boutique Hotel will provide all food options excluding the farewell dinner. This is for anyone who is currently vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian and for those who eat meat. Although we promote and are aware that a vegan and plant-based lifestyle are the healthiest options, you are welcome to indulge in where you are in your wellness journey. All food options from meat to plant-based will be provided.

8. Are you able to accommodate those with specific medical conditions, limited mobility, hearing impaired or blind? Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate people that are blind, and those with limited mobility. We are also unable to accommodate those with illness or sickness requiring special attention, needs, or request. 9. How much spending money should I bring? We recommend bringing $400 or more for spending during your time in Costa Rica;
10. How do I get around in Costa Rica during my free time at the retreat? Guests attending the Black Women Healing Retreat can take taxi's to get around. Taxi's are approximately $11 to get around
11. Is Black Women Healing Retreats a feminist movement?
Black Women Healing Retreats centers the femininity, wellness, and healing of black women, we love our feminist sisters, however BWHR is not a feminist movement.
12. Who can attend a Black Women Healing Retreats?
Black Women Healing Retreats is for Black Americans, Caribbeans, Africans, and Black women worldwide. Allies your support is appreciated. We encourage you to share about us with your friends and family.
13. Do you have quiet time during the retreat? Absolutely! Throughout the retreats, we have silent hour or time, where guests tune into their energy to self-reflect without outside distractions. All rooms are shared. We discourage anyone from attending that seeks to consume alcohol or party during their time here.
14. Can I bring my kids with me to the retreat? We are unable to accommodate kids at the retreat.
15. Do I need experience in yoga and meditation to attend? You do not need experience in yoga or meditation to attend the Black Women Healing Retreat, just show up with an open mind and an open heart.
16. What can I expect at the Black Women Healing Retreats ?
Black Women Healing Retreats is a large retreat. You can expect calm mornings, delicious, nourishing meals, fun excursions, quality time on the beaches in the Caribbean of Costa Rica. Expect a friendly, welcoming setting and well deserved rest and leisure time.
17. Do I need to know how to swim to participate? You do not need to know how to swim to participate.
18. Is my retreat refundable? Black Women Healing Retreats are non-refundable. We strongly suggest that clients purchase travel insurance for any cancellation reason. If you are unable to attend a retreat we offer one-time transfers. Transfer credits are valid up to 1 year .Clients will be responsible for the price differential if purchasing a more expensive product. Refer to Booking Terms and Conditions for more information. 19. What's it like in Costa Rica? Life in the jungle is unpredictable. The weather changes at the drop of a hat. Google never provides accurate weather for Costa Rica, its typically sunny throughout the day, and sometimes it may rain at night. Cleaning ants may decide to sweep through your living room floor, or a cockroach decides to land on your fruit. Costa Rica is not known for being particularly efficient in any process. Lines move slow. People might operate on “beach time” and be late, or you feel they are unreliable. Itinerary may be subject to change. We are in a different country, so we ask that you leave any united states expectations at home, and be open to a new experience!
20. Is it possible to change an activity? All activities are part of the Black Women Healing Retreat schedule and can not be changed or switched. If you miss an activity due to flight delays, sickness etc, the activity can not be replaced. This includes for weather.
21. Is there a weight requirement for zip lining? Yes, you must be under 250lbs to attend zip lining.
22. What is the retreat itinerary? We generally do not publish the schedule on our website, it is only for confirmed retreat attendees. You will receive your itinerary the day you arrive at the retreat. However the activities listed on the main page will be included in the itinerary, barring any changes not under our control.
23. Do women celebrate their birthday at the retreat? Yes, if you have a birthday during the retreat, let us know ahead of time so that we can prepare something special for you during the retreat.

25. Is there wifi at the retreat? During the Black Women Healing Retreats there is Free WIFI to all guests . Do keep in mind though that the internet is not as reliable as other developed areas of the world.
26. Do I need vaccinations? Vaccinations are not required to enter Costa Rica.
27. What currency should I use? The local currency is Colones however Costa Rica also accepts US dollars. Upon your arrival you will receive an email that will teach you how to count the local currency. In the area there are a couple of banks and a few ATM machines.
28. What should I do about my hair? Should I bring make up? What about my nails?
We suggest wearing your hair in whatever way works best for you. You can wear your hair natural, get braids, or wear a bust down middle part wig etc., we don't recommend weaves because you will be getting your head wet. If you wear makeup at home, you can bring your makeup with you! Long acrylics and short nails do well in Costa Rica.
29. What about laundry? Laundry can be done at a local shop where they will do your laundry for you.
30. Does Black Women Healing Retreats believe in therapy? Black Women Healing Retreats believes in all forms of natural and holistic healing from yoni steaming, prayer, meditation, rituals, and more; we also find those with mental health concerns can use natural healing methods, and they can also use clinical techniques such as therapy/psychiatry.
